For Young Men

Today, we understand the long-lasting impact that violent trauma like war, abuse, or assault can cause. However, other experiences such as the loss of a loved one, a transition from home to college, or even being involved in a car accident can create an overwhelming experience that leaves lasting emotional scars and causes destruction. In that context, it can be difficult to find one’s place in the world and to walk a healthy path through it all. Red Oak Recovery® was founded to give young men a place to find the trauma healing, community, and tools they need to live authentic lives in recovery from substance use and mental health disorders.

Our comprehensive dual-diagnosis mental health treatment is structured around six core values:

Hope

Courage

Willingness

Integrity

Spirituality

Service

Over the course of 70 to 90 days, the young men in our community learn the true meaning of each word — and how to live by those values moving forward.

when is mental health treatment necessary?

As a group, young adults 18 to 26 have the highest prevalence of mental health disorders (when compared to adults 26 to 49 or 50 and older). At the same time, it can be challenging to find quality care: One 2022 study found that 67% of responding counties met the criteria for a “mental health professionals shortage area.”

If you or a loved one is struggling with mental health, you deserve to experience the comprehensive treatment that makes a difference. Reach out to let us know what you’re facing, and we can help you find a solution — even if it’s not with us.

what is dual-diagnosis mental health treatment?

Mental health disorders are often part of a larger constellation of behavioral and mental health concerns. For example, PTSD and substance use disorder are frequently linked; or, depression and anger management. Dual-diagnosis treatment looks at the client as a whole, identifying any co-occurring issues so they can be treated simultaneously and comprehensively. All of our clinicians are dually licensed for mental health and substance use disorders. Learn more about our approach to addiction treatment at the link.

trauma-informed treatment

Today, we understand that trauma is pervasive and intrinsically woven into modern life. More than wars, abuse, and assault, trauma is any overwhelming experience that leaves lasting emotional scars and causes destructive behavioral patterns.

Did you know? More than two thirds of children surveyed in one federal study reported experiencing a traumatic incident prior to the age of 16. Even if you or a loved one think your past “wasn’t that bad,” it may be negatively affecting your life today.

The Red Oak community was created to facilitate self-exploration and recovery from trauma of all kinds. Our clinical team has deep experience and training in modalities particularly effective at treating trauma, such as EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and experiential therapy.
