Adventure-based therapy can be a powerful treatment approach for those struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, substance use, and other issues that teens and young adults may face. This type of in-the-moment processing allows for clients to be continuously assessed and intervened upon when appropriate.
By participating in structured activities that involve direct hands on experience, adventure therapy enhances an individual’s physical, social, and psychological wellbeing. Being outside in the great outdoors and spending time unplugged from everyday stressors helps us to see there is something bigger than ourselves and encourages self-reflection. It also provides opportunities for personal exploration, empowerment, and development of new coping skills, leading to a deeper sense of self and hope for the future.
When paired with intensive clinical services and individualized treatment plans, adventure therapy provides the best of both worlds in terms of meeting clients’ therapeutic needs. At Red Oak Recovery®, clients participate in therapeutic outdoor adventure activities while receiving a minimum of thirty hours of clinical care per week by dually licensed (mental health and substance use) Masters level clinicians. Utilizing evidence-based, research-supported clinical interventions in a small group setting combined with a highly trained multi-disciplinary team allows for clients to receive the care that they need to begin their recovery journey.
Red Oak Recovery® is a clinician-run company and has been participating in an IRB approved clinical research study over the past six years to ensure continuous programmatic and high quality care.
