Signs of Depression

Depression is a devastating condition. It is a type of mental health disorder that can seem to happen for no reason. Men and women are prone to it. So are teens. When depression hits, it can feel overwhelming and impossible to deal with on your own. If you have the signs of depression, you do not need to deal with it alone. Contact our Red Oak Recovery® professionals at 866.457.7590 to learn more about your treatment options.

What Are the Signs of Depression?

There are many things people can experience if they are going through depression. Every situation is vastly different. Take a few minutes to look at yourself from an objective view. Ask a family member or friend to help you. Do you have any of these signs of depression? If so, our depression treatment center in NC can help.

Hopeless: You feel hopeless. You feel like no matter what you do, you are not going to be able to make things good or better. You may feel helpless to change. This feeling is one of the most common signs of depression.

Loss of Interest: Do you no longer have an interest in the things you used to enjoy? Perhaps you no longer want to be around people who used to make you happy. Perhaps you are no longer able to embrace activities or hobbies.

Depressed, Sad Mood: You may feel as though you are just sad. You may not even know why, but you do not feel happy, motivated, or able to laugh. In some cases, there is a profound level of sadness that seems to occupy your mind.

Anxiety: You may experience the symptoms of anxiety more often. These symptoms include feeling nervous, having a rapid heart rate, and feelings of dread or panic. Anxiety can happen alongside depression.

Sleep Problems: Many people who have depression also have trouble sleeping. They may feel tired all of the time. They may have insomnia. Sleep changes are important to look for as signs of depression.

What to Do if You Feel This Way

If you feel the signs of depression present in your life, or that of a loved one, it is important to get help. Many people who are battling depression begin to drink or use illicit substances to control their symptoms. For these individuals, we provide dual diagnosis treatment. Dual diagnosis treatment addresses both the mental health condition and addiction simultaneously. Doing so gives you the tools to manage your depression and addiction and allows you to recover from both conditions thoroughly.

We offer a unique program at Red Oak Recovery® that can help you reclaim your health and well-being. Some of the addiction treatment program options available to you include:

  • Trauma therapy programs
  • Experiential therapy programs
  • Adventure therapy programs
  • Nutritional therapy support

When you see our team, we’ll help you get to the point of stability with your depression. We will then work to teach you how to manage your condition so that you can remain on a health path moving forward.
